Deep energy retrofit and passive solar kitchen addition to a 1940s saltbox in the Canyon Rim area of the SLC. Exterior insulation increased the R value of the walls from R-2 to R-16, so that the massive brick walls keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter instead of vice versa.
