We worked closely with the owners of this house in Millcreek Township to incorporate some critical architectural goals: big open spaces with views of Mount Olympus, an intimate relationship between the kitchen/dining areas and the back patio for outdoor dining, and an open loft for use as an office, among many other concerns. All of this is done within a very tight budget, and an energy performance that meets the Passive House Standard.
This house is designed to consume only 10% of the energy of an existing single family home of the same size in the same location, and 20% of an new home built to code. Further, it's solar electric and solar hot water panels will produce 75% of the home's annual energy needs.
