Dave Brach AIA is a Certified Passive House
Consultant, and principal of Brach Design Architecture
LLC. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's
degree in Anthropology from the University of Notre
Dame, and after a two-year stint as a bike mechanic in
Bloomington, Indiana, he decided to follow his passion
for building and designing. He worked as a carpenter in
residential construction in Colorado, Wisconsin and
Chicago before entering the Graduate School of Art
and Architecture at the University of Illinois Chicago. An
expert cabinetmaker and furnituremaker, Brach applied
his keen sense of craft and his skill in design at
architecture firms in Chicago, San Francisco and
Minneapolis. Unable to resist the lure of the mountains
and the desert, he moved to Utah in 2004 and founded
the architecture firm Brach Design. He volunteers as a
member of the Housing Advisory and Appeals Board in
Salt Lake City, where he lives on a one-acre organic
"urban micro farm" with his wife, two children, dog, cat
and 19 chickens.
